Madjid Bougherra

Madjid Bougherra (Arabic: مجيد بوغرة, born October 7, 1982) is a retired Algerian footballer who recently played for Aris Football League (Greece). He was a central defender, who could also play as a midfielder.

Bougherra began his career in professional football with the French club of Gueugnon before having spells with teams Crewe Alexandra English, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic. Bougherra moved to the Rangers in the summer of 2008 for £ 2.5m, made his debut against Falkirk in August this year. Bougherra made 113 appearances for the Rangers and was a key member of the team that won the Scottish Premier League championship in 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. In August 2011 sold Rangers Bougherra in Lekhwiya for £ 1.7 million.

International Algeria since 2004, Bougherra has won 64 international matches and scored 4 goals for the Algerian national football team, taking part in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, where Algeria finished fourth and World Cup 2010 in Africa South. He was captain of the team for the 2014 World Cup.

Madjid Bougherra was captain of Les Fennecs, Algeria national team while captain Lekhwiya (QSL) from 2011 -2014, and captain of the Fennecs for the 2014 World Cup and CAN 2015.
